Death of Honey

Our friend Honey died at around 4.30 on Tuesday. Apparently she was with three friends and was, briefly, conscious. One of the friends was remembering something in the past, telling a story, and everyone laughed, including Honey. Then she just took three short breaths and died. That seems about as good a way to go as any. She had seen the children recently and they have had much good support from bereavement counsellors at the hospice. Her ex-husband's sister has courageously agreed to make the two older children her own. She already has two older children so I'm sure she'll be an amazing Mum to Honey's two. Joslin's younger child is being cared for with great tenderness by Mr Man and his friend. Everyone involved agrees that many opportunties must be created for the three children to be together. I don't know what else to say. She was an extra-ordinary person. I will miss her always - but I will also always be encouraged and inspired by her, as will everyone who knew her.

Oh Alice, I'm so sorry. For your loss, for Honey's, for her sweet children's and friends'. I'm sending you all a lot of love.

I never met her but since I learned of her illness I think hardly a day has gone by when I haven't thought of her - her courage, and the terrible situation she was in. The world's a poorer place without her. And thank you for your great posts about her.

Thanks so much for the comments, Tash and Daphne. It's so kind of you to get in touch. The funeral will be a Quaker type event where everyone can say what they want - so I will certainly mention that there are people out there who never knew Joslin but nevertheless have followed her story with love. Dear Alice, I am very sorry for your loss with Honey's passing. I am sure that I met Honey in 2009 when she was just diagnosed with Cancer and having her baby girl. I had an overwhelming feeling today today to look her up....I don't know why, it has been over 2 years and I no longer live in the UK but she just came into my mind very strongly and somehow through some internet searching I found your blog. I never forgot her courage and bravery in the face of what she was going through during that time. She was an inspiration. I am glad to hear that she did have the last 2 years to spend with her youngest daughter and children. With her passing only last week and I have read and found this now, I do have feeling of sadness, but yet overwhelming peace and connectedness of everything wonderful in this world and love. It was my mother's 10 year anniversary on thursday the 8th of September 2011 and that is strong in my mind and with Honey passing the next day it somehow feels reassuring. I am not sure why. I hope you are doing ok. I was at my quaker meeting in Ireland last Sunday and it was a beautiful hour of silence and I will think of her again this week as I did not realise she was connected also to the Quakers. Lots of love, Kitty

Honey was a friend of a friend, who I saw periodically over the last 20 years. I knew of her illness, but hadn't heard she had passed away until I read it here. Thank you for letting us know. She will be much missed, best wishes to all her friends and family, especially her beautiful children.

Hi there
I was an old school friend of Honey's and I'd kept up with how she was doing on her old blog. But once she stopped that, I lost touch with what was happening. I've just read your blog today and found out the sad news. Someone has done a memorial video to her on u tube, I think that says it all. Thank you for letting me know. Isn't the internet an amazing thing. All the best Justine
